Smartacus Joins Tech Fort Worth

The Smartacus Corporation, producer of premier e-learning products for the higher education market, today announced it has joined Tech Fort Worth (formerly the Fort Worth MedTech Center), a business incubator for high technology start-up companies. “We are pleased to be associated with Tech Fort Worth and expect this relationship to help us achieve our goals more quickly,” said Brian Shannon, Chief Executive Officer and founder of The Smartacus Corporation. Shannon was joined by Rudy Lopes, Chief Information Officer, who said “The startup process is time consuming, and we need to focus on business development.” This sentiment was echoed by Jack Robinson, Chief Financial Officer who continued, “By partnering with Tech Fort Worth, The Smartacus Corporation will be profitable sooner.”

Warren H. Webb, President of Tech Fort Worth said, “Smartacus has put together a good management team with strong strategic partners. We’re very excited to start off 2003 with the addition of…The Smartacus Corporation to our program.” Before forming The Smartacus Corporation, the three principals of the company worked together in the technologies department of Harcourt College Publishers. Their combined experience in publishing educational software for the college market exceeds thirty years.

The Smartacus Corporation is a developer of premier e-learning products to enhance students’ earning power through improved learning. The company designs multimedia, distributed via the Internet and CD-ROM, that are teaching tools for the higher education market. -They combine text, graphics, and audio to explain core concepts, reinforce the students’ understanding; and support multiple learning styles. The focus is on technology products that are useful, usable, and unique.

The addition of The Smartacus Corporation makes 13 participants that have been involved with Tech Fort Worth since its inception in February 1998. Tech Fort Worth is a privately funded, non-profit business incubator designed to provide specialized and industry-specific business assistance to high-technology start-up companies. The Incubator takes the guesswork out of which companies will make it past the five-year mark by investing time and expertise in the critical first years of operation.
